Most popular supernatural webtoons
School Bus Graveyard

School Bus Graveyard is one of the most popular supernatural webtoons for a reason. Following along the lines of Stranger Things and Stephen King novels — but with a modern, fresh storytelling style, School Bus Graveyard follows a bunch of kids as they discover the mysterious “second dimension” and all the horrors that come with it.
Featuring a strong ensemble cast, with complex characters who don’t necessarily fit well together, the real strength of School Bus Graveyard is the group of kids who drive the story. The comedy of their interactions helps to balance the dark story, while the supernatural plot is compelling and full of fun twists. Highly recommend!

I’m The Grim Reaper

The afterlife exists. Hell exists. So what happens when you get sent there? In this comic, sinners get to delay their damnation by serving their time as one of the grim reapers, with a quota of sinners to slice up and send to Hell in turn. Scarlet, newly dead and damned, has just started her term as a grim reaper — when a detective gets on her tail thanks to her very first kill.
This darkly funny supernatural webtoon has such a fresh premise! I was hooked just from the concept, but the striking artwork (all red, black, and white) kept me coming back.

Rooftops & Roommates

Oh my God they were roommates… This supernatural romance webtoon features Jed, a normal college student rooming with his best friend, Todd (who he secretly has a crush on). Totally normal, average, definitely nothing otherworldly about this… except for the fact that Jed is actually a gargoyle, and their college dorm is infested with ghosts only he can see. Damn. How’s he gonna get Todd to notice him when all of this is going on?
This supernatural boys love comic is so much fun! It was recommended to me so many times I just had to check it out. I’m not super far into it, but I’m already hooked.

Evelyne and the Occult

After having a paranormal experience as a child, Evie is determined to find evidence of the supernatural. She’s always failed though — until another brush with the paranormal sends her, and her friends, investigating the wild and wonderful world of the occult…
This one is super fun! Evelyne and the Occult keeps it light while exploring gothic and spooky topics. Definitely one to read when Halloween rolls around.

Nevermore

There’s more to death than oblivion… Annabel Lee and Lenore find each other washed up on the shores of the afterlife, when they are invited to attend Nevermore Academy, a school where, if you excel, you might just get a second chance at life. This supernatural romance webtoon is deliciously gothic, inspired by the works of Edgar Allen Poe, and the core relationship is delightfully twisted.
Annabel and Lenore love each other so deeply, and clearly have a history even they are not aware of. But passion can be difficult to navigate, and these two are suckers for romantic drama!
Read if you love: Edgar Allen Poe (but you thought it needed more lesbians), complicated romances, girls love.

Rain Girl

Stuck in a rainy, gloomy town in the 1890s, Mina has instructions to look after her cousin and make sure she doesn’t fall in love. But it’s a bit difficult to focus on that when something paranormal lurks in the woods, and Mina’s always heard otherworldly voices whispering secrets…
I love love love this one!!! Rain Girl is a deliciously gothic period drama, with plenty of romance, mystery, and paranormal shenanigans. It’s the first one I recommend when people are looking for supernatural webtoons.

God Has Spite

You’ve heard about magical girls… but what about magical boys?! This charmingly subversive webtoon explores this idea, with normal guy Larry balancing his job and everyday responsibilities with saving the world — as the voice of God guides him on his way.
This comic is FANTASTIC — and in true Puella Magi Madoka Magica tradition, there’s something very strange going on under the surface. Who really is the “God” in this story? What do they want? And what is the purpose of Larry’s secret missions?

Fragmented Dreams

Diana's life has always been ordinary — except her dreams, which give her glimpses of another world. Filled with fantasy and magic, these dreams should be fun! But in this world, no matter what she does, Diana always dies…
I'm hooked on Fragmented Dreams, a glorious epic saga of secrets, other worlds, magic, romance, and the importance of family. Even though this comic has a fantastical premise, the real heart of the story is how the creator writes her characters, and their relationships are so deep and compelling. Definitely recommend!
Read if you like: Charmed, high fantasy, relationship-driven narratives.
Tales of Sundown

Have you ever wondered what happens to those who can walk the worlds of the living and the dead? Tales of Sundown follows Samhain, a ghoul tasked with helping those in need — whether they’re alive or dead. Accompanied by his apprentice, a shapeshifter named Nightshade, Samhain’s mission takes him to weird and wonderful places, and everything in between.
This supernatural comic walks in the footsteps of Neil Gaiman, weaving fascinating stories set in worlds that exist just beyond our own. A lot of fun and well worth a read.
Read if you like: Sandman, anthology tales, compelling characters.
Foggy Lake

Ok, the lore in this is AMAZING!!! Foggy Lake is set in a world where werewolves, zombies, and other monsters are all real — but the creator takes an incredibly grounded approach to this, really asking what would happen if all these supernatural creators were real today.
The result is a super fun comic with tons of pithy commentary (eg: a type of zombie known as “shamblers” are created when people have to work drudging, mind-numbing, and exhausting jobs!), compelling characters, and a great crime mystery driving the story. Definitely a favorite.
